chook1 184
Metacam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, it will reduce swelling but not bruising, you cant get it without a script. arnica is quite safe, i would probably go more for the cream - than the tabs. Sirius 1,391
Hold on there people there is a world of difference between Metacam which is POM Nsaid and Arnica which is a homopathic remedy!! Arnica 15C does help reduce bruising effectively and I have found it is excellent given ASAP after injury or very hard work when the dog is sore. I have also used the Arnica Gels/creams externally with good results. Metacam has an action of being an anti inflammatory and also a pain killer, which is great when needed but I would start using it regularly when its not needed due to the pain killing action it has. Surely you meant "I would not start using it regularly..." NOT " I would start using it....." Sorry to be nit-picky, but some people might get confused with the information you put!

socks 32,253
arnica is the best all round treatment for bruising ... the problem with using metacam is that due to the painkiller in it the dog feels ok and will start to do to much causing the injury tom increase ... i use metacam as a very last resort and when i do i make sure the dog cannot be to active ...........
